What does it mean to be an American?

Leave a comment (with your name) of 5-7 sentences that

explains what it means to be an American. Don't think of

ethnicity/color - focus on nationality, someone born and

raised in America despite the complexion of skin. Don't just

focus on the American Dream; rather, explain the values,

beliefs, ideas, and traditions that are truly American.

To be american is to stand up for what you believe in no matter what the cost, even to sacrifice yourself to uphold what you believe in. Also, to be open minded and just. 9. An American may just be a person that was born in America and raised here, but to me it means so much more. To me, an American is one that loves his country more than anything on this earth, knows what their country believed in when this country was formed, and stands up for it. They don't let any one affect their faith in their core beliefs and values and remain strong.

  13. To be an american means to be free. We as Americans are extremely lucky to have been born free. We have been free throughout history for the longest time. Out original values consisted of having a nice house to live in and a wife and children to call our own. However, we now believe that money is the only source of happiness. Most Americans consist of the Christian religion which means that most traditions consist of a time for Christmas in which we believe that was the day that Christ the savior was born. However our beliefs have swayed to where the children in our world believe that Christmas is not jesus's birthday, but a night in which an overweight man comes down your chimney to give free presents. Overall our beliefs as Americans are extremely selfish and we should really change our values.

  14. As an American, I find it to be something to cherish. The mulitiple freedoms are only fair to the multiple rules we must follow. The freedom is what America made on, so that's my biggest belief. Though we abuse it, most of us are good people. Being an Amerrican means that you're proud of what you have, and are not afraid to show some sympathy to your fellow Americans. I, on one hand, am not proud to be one, because of how others have been treating their communities....and also of how stubborn our government seems to be getting. I'd much rather live in Canada ;)
